Our treatment room nurses can provide general travel advice, according to practice protocols, on your itinerary.
There are also plenty of good sources of information available on the internet and we would recommend the following.
Prior to travelling abroad, please try and see the nurse approximately 6 weeks beforehand. This allows time for immunisations to be given.
Some vaccinations are free of charge others will require a visit to a private clinic
If needed this will incur an HNS prescription charge
All available if needed, from private travel clinics. The nurse will advise if necessary for your trip

Some patients who feel they are at a particular high risk form travelling may wish to discuss their travel arrangements with their G.P. However, our nurses are capable at answering most questions and will call upon the G.P’s advice if they feel the question lies outside their expertise.

Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe the EU has published useful information for travellers on the European website.
Please bring any vaccination records you may have to your appointment.
If you are newly registered it may be sensible to contact your old surgery for a copy of your vaccination history
Routine smear tests can be carried out by the treatment room nurses. These are available to women over the age of 25.
Some of our doctors have additional special qualifications to carry out developmental checks on babies at approximately eight weeks of age. Thereafter, these checks are carried out by a health visitor, who will refer any problems to your doctor.

Our nurse will advise on the management, lifestyle and diet of all diabetic patients.
All the partners are happy to give advice on family planning.

The nurse in this clinic will check your blood pressure and give lifestyle advice as necessary to help in the detection and management of this widespread condition.
Several partners will perform minor surgery for a variety of conditions.
All newly registered patients aged over five are invited to attend for a check-up at a nurse run clinic.
For patients of all ages who have asthma or respiratory disease. The nurse can advise on symptom control, medication, treatments and inhaler technique.
The treatment room nurses are happy to give advice, by appointment, on vaccination and other health requirements for foreign travel. Following appropriate assessment, vaccinations, for some of which there may be a charge, will be scheduled. Please note that for some courses of treatment to be effective they need to be started several weeks before travel - please don’t leave making an appointment to the last minute!

No matter how long you have been smoking or how many times you have tried before you will benefit from giving up - and Quit4Life makes it a lot easier!We are fortunate to have a Quit4Life adviser visiting the surgery weekly on Wednesday afternoons.She can guide you through the whole process - getting ready to quit, discussing medication options, arranging the supply of your chosen stop smoking products and providing regular support and encouragement until you are confident about remaining smoke free. Seeing your carbon monoxide level drop when you quit will also help demonstrate how quickly your body starts to benefit from stopping completely.Even if you are not sure whether you are ready to make a quit attempt we would urge you to have a chat to find out what they offer.
